An optimized version for FF3 users will be uploaded on Oct 23…

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 by John Locke Categories: Firefox, Themes Tags: 20 Responses

Well, I made a mistake, I’m sorry, it wasn’t like I uploaded something with that bug intended

I haven’t used FF3 for months, so I forgot one thing: To test it on FF3 and see what happen, because FF3 users will get the automatically update…

I didn’t realize that it will make the FF3 toolbars disappear until one people told me about it today, so I wrote that note in the “thank you” page this afternoon…

To disable it, you can

1. reinstall version 3.1.0 in Download page”

2. Or open the “Options” window —-> click “Main” —-> click “Manage Add-ons…” —-> click “Themes” —-> switch to other themes

But how to open the Add-ons window since you don’t have the menu bar? Use the hot key as below…

Mac OS X: com+,

Windows: alt+O

Linux: I don’t remember, asking friend to check it
I’m fixing the bug for FF3 users right now, and I will release it in hours

Edit: I’m optimizing the themes for FF3 users, it’s almost finished, just need some more hours, I will upload it here on Oct 23, I’m sure every FF3 users will like it :)

    CTRL+O does open your files.

This happened to me after the update this morning. Do this if you’re running Windows XP…

    - Close Firefox
    - Open Firefox in “Safe Mode” by clicking on START, find Mozilla FIrefox, then click on “Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)”.
    - A box will open asking if you want to open Firefox with default settings.
    - Leave all boxes unchecked so you don’t mess with all of your preferences.
    - Once Firefox is open, click on TOOLS, then ADD-ONS.
    - When the ADD-ON box opens, uninstall the Foxdie Theme.

When the theme update is fixed later today, reinstall Foxdie. That’s what I’m doing FWIW.

Thanks Dave, that was perfect! Just want to remind people again to NOT have FF running in the background or it won’t start in safe mode. I made that mistake.

In linux is the same (ff 3.0.14). Toolbars disappeared.
To disable it and change theme, instead using safe mode, just try to reinstall /install a theme / plugin whatever (here or in mozilla add-ons). It causes the add-on window to reappear asking you to restart. Before do that, just change theme and voilà.

    another way to reanimate ff:

go to /home/your_username/.mozilla/firefox/vafiuseh.default/extensions/ and delete all folders named with foxdie…

If you don’t have folder named “vafiuseh.default” just search something with bla_bla_bla.default. Than enter and delete folders with foxdie

  8. A less aggressive way of changing it would be by pressing ctrl+L to open URL location dialoge, then you type “about:config”, look for “general.skins.selectedSkin” and change its value to “Default”. Then you restart the Firefox. Anything would be uninstalled and whenever there is an upgrade for the Foxdie theme, it will be automatically upgraded. ;)
